Black Panther could make history at next months Oscars after picking up the top gong at the SAG Awards. The ceremony, which is regarded as a marker for the Academy Awards, honoured the Marvel superhero hit with Best Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture after beating off A Star Is Born, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Crazy Rich Asians. It also picked up Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble.
Chadwick Boseman, who plays the titular character in the Ryan Coogler directed film, received a standing ovation as he gave an impassioned acceptance speech, telling audience members they knew they had “something special that we wanted to give the world”.
He said: “We know what it’s like to be told there’s not a screen for you to be featured on, a stage for you to be featured on.
