Set in 1795, the film revolves around Azaad (Amitabh Bachchan), a pirate-rebel, who attacks and loots ships belonging to the East India Company with his sidekick Zafira (Fatima Sana Shaikh). When the Company officer John Clive is unable to capture Azaad through conventional means, he ropes in the roguish Firangi Malla (Aamir Khan) to infiltrate Azaad’s gang of pirates and betray him to the British. To know what happens next, we will have to wait till November 8, when the film releases.
Bachchan is in top form as ever and takes our breath away with his majestic persona while Aamir is endearing as the cheerfully rakish Firangi Malla. Unfortunately, the two leading ladies have been largely ignored in the trailer (sexist much?). As for the trailer itself, though the canvas of the film is monumental, we feel that the special effects were not as impressive as had been expected. However, we shall reserve judgment for as and when the film hits the silver screens.
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Thugs Of Hindostan is slated to release on November 8.
